Committee Positions

Marin Teleservice Chairperson 

Requirement: Two years sobriety, one year committee level position

Length of Term: One Year

Time Commitment: 5-6 hours/month

  • Facilitate all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Communicate with officers via email/phone monthly
  • Be available to all teleservice committee members for questions and support
  • Assist seven daily coordinators as needed
  • Ensure all committee positions are being fulfilled
  • Prepare written monthly agenda for business meeting taking note of both old and new business agenda items
  • Coordinate with all teleservice committee members regarding items of new business to be considered for placement on agenda at upcoming business meeting
  • Provide Communications Chair with upcoming business meeting agenda one week prior to business meeting to send out to all committee members
  • Chair business meeting in an organized fashion according to Robert’s Rules of Order. Ensure that business meeting flows smoothly and that all members voices are heard equally.
  • Reach out and support committee members who miss the business meeting
  • If a committee member is not fulfilling the commitment as outlined in the job description, address concern and fill the commitment with a member who is available.

 

Marin Teleservice 12-Step List Coordinator 

Requirement: One-year sobriety

Length of Term: One Year

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours/month

  • Attend all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Regularly maintain and update 12-step worker list
  • On a quarterly basis confirm with all volunteers via email/phone who are on the 12-Step Worker List  (January, April, July, October)
  • Prepare concise and informative written report (no longer than two minutes) to be delivered orally at monthly teleservice business meetings when applicable
  • Attend 12-step committee meeting (2nd Thursday @ 6-7pm Central Office, SF)

 

Marin Teleservice Communications 

Requirement: One-year sobriety

Length of Term: One Year

Time Commitment: 2-3 hours/month

  • Attend all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Email teleservice committee members important and relevant information on a monthly, weekly, and/or daily basis, as needed and/or requested.
  • Prepare concise and informative written report (no longer than two minutes) to be delivered orally at monthly teleservice business meetings
  • Receive business meeting minutes within one week of meeting and distribute to members promptly (no later than one week)
  • Receive current agenda from Chairperson and email agenda and minutes to all committee members (3) calendar days prior to upcoming business meeting
  • Keep an up-to-date Marin Teleservice mailing list (MailerLite). Manage account, email templates, and new volunteer additions.  
  • Ensure all primary volunteers are included in this group.
  • Provide a sign up sheet for each monthly meeting to capture new additions to be added to the aforementioned mailing list.

 

Marin Teleservice Recording Secretary

Requirement: one-year sobriety, teleservice experience recommended

Length of Term: One Year

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours/month

  • Attend all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Record minutes during business meeting
  • Finalize meeting minutes within a week of business meeting
  • Email Chairperson and Communications Chair the meeting minutes within a week following the business meeting to allow prompt distribution to all members

 

Marin Teleservice Daily Shift Coordinator

Requirement: One year sobriety, prior teleservice experience strongly recommended

Length of term: One year

Time Commitment: 10-15 hours/month

  • Attend all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Train and assist volunteers in phone line forwarding
  • Maintain up-to-date spreadsheet that includes volunteers’: names, numbers, emails, shift days/times
  • Remind volunteers via email and/or phone before your day of the week
  • Schedule new shift volunteers as needed
  • Check in with volunteers regularly
  • Fill in for volunteers when needed and available to do so
  • Prepare concise and informative written report (no longer than two minutes) that includes available shifts to be delivered orally at monthly Teleservice business meetings

A Teleservice coordinator ensures calls to the 24-hr Marin AA hotline (415.499.0400) get answered. The coordinator assists as needed to forward the phone line from one shift volunteer to the next. There are 7 daily shift coordinators. Each is responsible for one day out of the week. Central Office takes the line Mon-Fri, 10am-6pm. The coordinators are responsible for overseeing phone line volunteers to answer the phones Mon-Fri, 6pm-10am and all day on weekends and holidays.


 

Marin Teleservice Orientation Coordinator

Requirement: One-year sobriety, prior experience as teleservice volunteers

Length of Term: One Year

Time Commitment: 1.5-2 hours/month

  • Attend all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Provide basic information about Marin Teleservice to both Marin Teleservice meeting reps and to interested volunteers.
  • During orientation, briefly explain how Marin Teleservice works, describe the responsibilities of a meeting rep, and explain responsibilities of the primary, backup and 12 step workers.
  • Explain process of how to sign up for a shift and what a typical shift might entail
  • Report at business meeting about orientation (no longer than two minutes)

*Orientation takes place on the 4th Tuesday of every month from 7:00 to 7:30 pm in the front room at the Alano club before the Marin Teleservice monthly meeting.


 

Marin Teleservice General Service Liaison

Requirement: Six months sobriety

Length of Term: One Year

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours/month

  • Attend all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Attend all (12) calendar-year general service business meetings
  • Prepare concise and informative written report (no longer than two minutes) to be delivered orally at monthly teleservice business meetings

Time Commitment: 2.5-3 hours/month

  • Attend all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Attend all (12) calendar-year H&I business meetings
  • Prepare concise and informative written report (no longer than two minutes) to be delivered orally at monthly teleservice business meetings

Requirement: Six months sobriety

Length of Term: One Year

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours/month

  • Attend all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Attend monthly Intergroup meeting (1st Wednesday 7-8pm in San Francisco)
  • Prepare concise and informative written report (no longer than two minutes) to be delivered orally at monthly teleservice business meetings

Intergroup General Meeting: 1st Wednesday 7:00-9:00pm

Marin Teleservice Treasurer

Requirement: Two years sobriety, one-year teleservice committee position

Length of Term: Two years

Time Commitment: 5-6 hours/month

  • Attend all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Check P.O. box twice a month
  • Deposit contributions into teleservice bank account
  • Keep a record of group donations
  • Pay bills on time
  • Give oral reports on income and expense
  • Distribute excess funds to separate entities such as central office and G.S.O

 

Marin Teleservice Special Events Coordinator

Requirement: one-year sobriety, prior teleservice experience recommended

Length of Term: One Year

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours/month

  • Attend all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Coordinate and attend two major teleservice special events: annual Spaghetti Feed and a joint Marin-San Francisco event
  • Arrange location, food, volunteers, dates, speakers, etc., for each event
  • Coordinate and attend Unity day (staff table with volunteers and information)
  • Coordinate planning meetings for events
  • Prepare concise and informative written report (no longer than two minutes) to be delivered orally at monthly teleservice business meetings when applicable

 

Marin Teleservice Webmaster

Requirement: One year sobriety, possess personal computer

Length of Term: One Year

Time Commitment: 4-5 hours/month

  • Attend all (12) calendar-year teleservice business meetings
  • Maintain and update current teleservice website on a monthly basis
  • Maintain committee email
  • Prepare concise and informative written report (no longer than two minutes) to be delivered orally at monthly teleservice business meetings
